Leadership Florence is a comprehensive nine-month program designed to identify, cultivate and motivate new leadership for the Greater Florence Area. Participants will increase their knowledge of the Greater Florence area, and enhance their involvement in community activities while further developing their leadership skills.

ATTENDANCE
The program begins with a Meet & Greet in August and ends with graduation in June 2021. Sessions are one full day per month.

You are also required to attend the half day Building Bridges Diversity Session, at least two law enforcement ride-alongs and one City/County Council Meeting. The Leadership Class will complete a class project during the program, in which the proceeds will be donated to chosen charities. Recent projects are Downtown Gala, Find Me Downtown , BBQ for a Cause & Disco Ball.

Participants may not miss more than two days of class to graduate. Attendance at all sessions is expected. The Opening Retreat, Team Building Exercise and State Government are mandatory sessions.

TUITION
$1295 for members and $1695 for non-members. A $200 deposit must accompany this completed application. The tuition balance is due before Friday, August 14, 2020. The Leadership Committee reserves the right to deny the participant eligibility for graduation for failure to attend scheduled sessions or non-payment of full tuition.

The mission of the Young Professionals of Florence group is to mobilize the young professionals of Florence to support and enhance leadership, civic responsibility and business growth.

Simply put, we’re here for you. We hope that as this organization continues to grow, that it will be able to provide an increasing array of business and social services to all area young professionals looking for a network to help them reach out to the community.

This session will help business owners understand the components of business planning as well as identify the resources and tools to make the process more efficient and effective.

Presenter: Brianna Dennis, Executive Director, FMU Kelley Center for Economic Development

Brianna Dennis serves as the Executive Director for the Kelley Center for Economic Development at Francis Marion University. She manages Florence and Lake City Business Incubators. Brianna is currently a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) from the National Development Council and Certified in Entrepreneurship Center Management from the InBIA.

Session Description: When a business wants to grow, there is often a need to seek additional funding from lenders. In this session, business owners will learn about the general lending process, including the basic requirements for applying for a small business loan. This session will also discuss business plans, future projections, personal financial statements, assessing your bookkeeping process and becoming comfortable with how to present your loan request to a lender. There will also be discussion about the different types of loans and how they work.

Presenter: Paul Schmidt, Director of Lending, CommunityWorks

Paul Schmidt grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He attended Clemson University where he graduated with a B.S. Degree in Financial Management. After graduating, Paul spent 37 years as a Commercial Banker with various institutions in both Greenville and Spartanburg, working as a Commercial Loan Officer while specializing in Loan Workouts.

The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce's Winter 2021 Chamber Legislative Breakfast focus will be centered on the City of Florence. Mayor Teresa Myers Ervin will be the keynote speaker at the event. Doors at the Florence Center will open for the breakfast at 7:30am and the program will start around 7:50am.

The hour-long program will feature updates on current and upcoming City of Florence projects and programs.

The breakfast is open to the public. All those attending must register prior to the event. Room seating is limited.
