The mission of the Young Professionals of Florence group is to mobilize the young professionals of Florence to support and enhance leadership, civic responsibility and business growth.

Simply put, we’re here for you. We hope that as this organization continues to grow, that it will be able to provide an increasing array of business and social services to all area young professionals looking for a network to help them reach out to the community.

Membership Fee: $40 per year - Membership Runs January - December 2025

The Emerging Leaders Summer Institute is a program designed to generate professional training and development, mentorship, community engagement and recruitment opportunities.

The purpose is to identify, develop and empower “Emerging Leaders”, specifically minorities, small business owners and innovative professionals poised to move into the next level of community and business leadership.

Program Strategies

Communicate with community leaders and businesses
Professional and personal leadership development and civic engagement
Extensive networking with a diverse group of peers
Discovering your strengths and how to apply them as a leader

Cost includes lunch and materials. While many candidates are sponsored by their employer, a limited number of partial scholarships are available.

The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting applications from area companies and business individuals for the 2025-2026 Leadership Florence Class.

Leadership Florence is the area’s most popular and comprehensive business leadership program in the region. The once-a-month sessions are designed to identify, cultivate and motivate leadership in our businesses and to familiarize participants about our community and enhance their involvement in business, civic and government activities while developing future leadership skills and business relationships.

The program begins with orientation in August and ends with graduation in May 2026. Come and be a part of the 35 years of Leadership Florence experience.

ATTENDANCE
The program begins with a Meet & Greet in August and ends with graduation in May 2026. Sessions are one full day per month.

You are also required to attend the half day Building Bridges Diversity Session and one City/County Council Meeting. The Leadership Class will complete a class project during the program, in which the proceeds will be donated to chosen charities. Recent projects are Downtown Gala, Find Me Downtown, Disco Ball and Kickball for a Cause.

Participants may not miss more than two days of class to graduate. Attendance at all sessions is expected. The Opening Retreat, Team Building Exercise and State Government are mandatory sessions.

TUITION
$1395 for members and $1795 for non-members. A $325 deposit must accompany this completed application. The tuition balance is due before Friday, September 5, 2025. The Leadership Committee reserves the right to deny the participant eligibility for graduation for failure to attend scheduled sessions or non-payment of full tuition.

The Greater Florence Chamber will again host the Women in Commerce Luncheon on Thursday, August 28th at the Florence Center.

The luncheon program will focus on celebrating successes and promoting opportunities for women’s career growth. The program agenda will offer networking ideas helping to create friendships and business relationships that can support growing your career and reaching personal goals.

The keynote speaker for the 2025 Women in Commerce Luncheon will be Dr. Rachel Spear, professor of English and the director of the Gender Studies program at Francis Marion University.

The event will begin at 11:30 am with a mingle and mocktails. The lunch and program will be starting at noon. A special thanks to this year’s sponsor Duke Energy and to McLeod Health and MUSC of Florence for their continued support of the program.

Registration is required to attend. Special tables of 8 are $375 and single tickets are $40 each.
